After the thrilling conclusion of the 2024 US Open, the tennis world doesn’t slow down and now shifts its focus to the 2024 Davis Cup, one of the sport’s most iconic competitions and the premier team event worldwide. With 16 teams competing across four groups, the eight finalists who will travel to Málaga in November will be determined, where Italy will aim to defend the title they won last year.
This year, the tournament structure remains the same, but there are some new features in the group stage. The 16 teams are divided into four groups, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the quarterfinals in Málaga. This initial phase will take place from September 10 to 15, with expectations of intense matchups between the world’s best tennis nations.

One of the main novelties of this edition is the inclusion of Zhuhai as a host city for the group stage, replacing Split (Croatia). This will require several teams to make long journeys to China, a country not known for its lively atmosphere in the stands. With these changes, the host cities for the national teams are as follows: Valencia: Spain, Czech Republic, France, and Australia; Manchester: Great Britain, Argentina, Canada, and Finland; Bologna: Italy, Netherlands, Brazil, and Belgium; and Zhuhai: Germany, Chile, Slovakia, and the United States.
The competition format remains unchanged from previous years. Each tie will consist of three matches: two singles matches between the best players of each country and a doubles match, which could be decisive in case of a tie. The matches will be played in a best-of-three sets format, and all venues will feature hard courts, ensuring a high level of competitiveness.
With the group stage just around the corner, the tennis world eagerly awaits to see which teams will stand out and secure their place in the finals in Málaga. The 2024 Davis Cup promises to be an event filled with excitement, where passion and team strategy will play a crucial role in the quest for the title.
