The FIB 2025 World Championship Men 19 and Men 17 takes place from January 16-19 in Sandviken, Sweden, hosted at the renowned Göransson Indoor Arena. This facility already hosted a World Championship in 2017, when it hosted the World Championship Men Group A. This year’s edition will measure the best junior bandy teams in the world.

Rafi Markarian, club director of Sandviken AIK BK, expressed his enthusiasm: “It is a great honor to host the World Championships for Men 17 and Men 19. We look forward to showcasing our fantastic stage and our passion for bandy on an international stage.”

FORMAT AND PARTICIPATION

The Men 19 championship will feature teams from Finland, Hungary, Norway and Sweden. The teams will play a total of five matches: three in the group stage, one semifinal and one final or bronze match. The format includes 2×30-minute halves in the opening matches and 2×45 minutes in the finals.

In the Men 17 category, Finland, Norway and Sweden will face each other, following a similar format. Both championships will be played in parallel, ensuring a continuous spectacle for the fans.

SWEDEN AND FINLAND, DEFENDING CHAMPIONS

Back to the sporting side of things, Sweden comes into the tournament as defending champions in the Men 19 category, after a resounding victory in Oslo 2024, where they defeated Norway 11-6 in the final. This success reinforces its position as one of the world powers in youth bandy.

On the other hand, Finland will be looking to repeat their feat in the Men 17 category, where they were crowned champions in 2024 after a thrilling match against Sweden that was decided by a golden goal by Oskari Kokko in extra time.
