The International University Sports Federation (FISU) has been a protagonist in recent events in America and Oceania. At the recently held FISU America 2024 Assembly, authorities were elected to lead the organization for the next four years. Alim Maluf Neto was re-elected as President, continuing his work representing 32 American countries affiliated with FISU. This election is crucial for the development of university sports on the continent, with a focus on promoting competitions and opportunities for young athletes.
On the other hand, FISU Oceania was present in activities related to the General Assembly of the Oceania National Olympic Committee (ONOC) in Fiji. FISU Oceania Vice President Amy Sasser and Executive Committee member Karl Whalen participated in key conferences that brought together more than 70 sports representatives from the Oceania region. This event enabled valuable discussions on university sporting projects and opportunities for student athletes in preparation for the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
These actions highlight FISU’s commitment to strengthening university sports internationally, encouraging the participation of young athletes and promoting strategic collaborations for the continued growth of this important sports sector.
