Additionally, the Portuguese Academic Federation of University Sports (FADU) was recognized with the FISU Gender Equality Project Award for its “Challenge the Numbers” initiative. This initiative had the main objective of increasing the participation of women in all aspects of sport, achieving a 20% growth in the participation of student-athletes in university events and a 15% increase in the number of delegates, leaders and coaches.
Among the highlighted actions is the creation of a podcast to report on the challenges around gender equality in sport, as well as the requirement that the teams participating in the Portuguese University Games have an equal number of women and men.
