ANOC Secretary General Gunilla Lindberg addressed the recent 45th General Assembly of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) in Kuwait, where she gave a detailed update on ANOC programs and projects aimed at supporting National Olympic Committees (NOCs).
During her speech, Lindberg highlighted progress in the development of the ANOC Strategic Plan, as well as other key initiatives to strengthen collaboration and communication between NOCs and International Federations.
Development of ANOC’s Strategic Plan
Lindberg began by reporting on progress in the development of ANOC’s Strategic Plan. She explained that 131 responses were received from NOCs to a questionnaire designed to gather their views, and 33 candidates applied to join the 12-member Working Group charged with leading the development of the plan. A draft of the Strategic Plan will be presented to the ANOC Executive Council on June 21.
This plan seeks to establish a clear roadmap for ANOC’s activities, ensuring that the needs of NOCs are effectively and collaboratively addressed.
Expansion of ANOC.tv
Another topic addressed by Lindberg was the review of the qualification process for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. In addition, she highlighted the growing expansion of ANOC.tv, a platform designed to help NOCs and Continental Associations promote their events and increase their visibility in the international sporting arena.
Lindberg also encouraged NOCs to register for the recently launched ANOC Digital Content HUB, a digital tool that connects NOCs and International Federations in a unified ecosystem. This hub aims to enhance Olympic communication and collaboration through shared digital content.
ANOC General Assembly in Hong Kong
Finally, Lindberg gave an update on preparations for next year’s ANOC General Assembly, which will be held in Hong Kong. As she noted, progress is positive and the event is expected to be an exceptional opportunity for NOCs from around the world.
