Hydrogen fuel, a key point of the first FIA Council in 2024

The world of motorsports gathered at the end of last February to celebrate the FIA World Sport Council, the first meeting of 2024 of the International Automobile Federation, where some of the key points were technology and strategies for the future of the different disciplines that make up this discipline, hydrogen fuel being one of those advances on which the FIA placed greater emphasis.

It all began with words from the president of the FIA, Mohammed Ben Sulayem, welcoming the representatives of the member sports present both at the headquarters in Switzerland and virtually. In addition, he presented the progress since the last Council held in December 2023.

Within the event on February 28, topics from all the disciplines present in the FIA were discussed. With respect to the Rally, the focus was on the promotion and marketing of the World Championship, committing to developing and approaching the different stakeholders involved; about the sport and the new sprint races during the season; and as for the technique on how they can improve the cars in order to make the competitions more attractive.

HYDROGEN BASED SOLUTIONS

On the other hand, the FIA presented its vision for the future regarding hydrogen fuel technologies, which involves several of the disciplines present in the Federation. They committed to developing and promoting hydrogen-based solutions, making the ponds have a smaller volume and weight compared to gas ponds.

In addition, some calendar changes were approved within the event, such as in the Formula One sprint race weeks, news in the World Rally Championship, the Rallycross Championship and the FIA GT World Cup.
