In an open letter sent a short time ago today to President Bach, the members of the Executive Board, the IOC members and the National Olympic Committees and signed by its President and Secretary General, the IBA attacks the IOC President and his team with great vehemence but also with very insulting personal references against them and calls on them to resign.
At one point in the letter the signatories call on IOC members to file an impeachment complaint against the IOC President for “abuse of power“. “We also urge IOC Members to express a vote of no confidence in Thomas Bach, now, based on his management policies and clear abuse of power”
In this letter there are many serious general references and accusations about the IOC administration and its functioning and the characterizations mentioned, in the opinion of SportsIn, are not in line with the principles of Olympism and its values that are invoked.
Read the letter: Letter to IOC Members from IBA
In addition, the letter deals with the prize money of athletes in the Olympics and states that the IBA will proceed with the prize money of boxers who win Olympic medals in Paris and attacks the IOC for not adopting prize money in the Olympics. It is a debate that has been thoroughly discussed and the IOC has given its answers and informed opinions. There are still different opinions on this issue, but that is the advantage of democracy.
At the same time the IBA is moving forward with a promotion of the Friendship Games and the economic conditions in which these games will be held.
It is not clear from the contents of the letter who the so-called “President Bach’s team” is considered to be, which is being asked to resign, and it is also not clear what “change” the signatories are talking about at the end of their letter and which they are urging the recipients of this letter to make.
The reaction of the IOC and the more general reactions of the recipients of the letter are awaited.
SportsIn will follow the case and keep its readers informed.
