The International Federation of Muaythai Associations (IFMA) believes in the transformative power of sport for communities and athletes. Respect is a fundamental pillar in its philosophy, a universal value that unites people from different cultures and nationalities. Lennert Swart, President of the IFMA Athletes’ Commission, emphasizes that the key lies in mutual respect among athletes, which defines the essence of the organization.
Recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), IFMA is committed to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially in youth empowerment. Promoting peace, tolerance, and mutual understanding are key principles. Leaders like Mariam Alsuwaidi, Honorary Vice President of the United Arab Emirates, are clear examples of this approach to youth, advocating for their involvement in Muaythai.
EMPOWERING FUTURE LEADERS
IFMA’s approach goes beyond competition. Janice Lyn, IFMA’s Sports Director, highlights that the Youth Championships create a lasting legacy, promoting lifelong skills and values. IFMA events aim not only for competitions but also for a profound impact on the community.
In 2025, IFMA will organize two major events: the Asian Youth Games in Bahrain and the Youth World Championships in Abu Dhabi. These events reflect IFMA’s commitment to youth, with the support of leaders like His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Hamad Al Khalifa and Abdullah Al Neyadi, who will emphasize the importance of youth and offer workshops and conferences for their holistic development.
