IOC’s digital bet on Paris 2024 triumphs at prestigious Webby Awards 2025

Digital initiatives developed by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and its broadcast rights partners for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games have been recognized at the Webby Awards 2025. These awards, considered the most prestigious in the digital arena, celebrate excellence in content and innovation in web, video, apps and social media.

Olympic Broadcasting Services (OBS) CEO and Olympic Channel Services (OCS) managing director Yiannis Exarchos said, “These awards are a true testament to the passion and dedication of our creative team. Paris 2024 app wins award for visual design

The official app of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, developed by Olympic Channel Services, received two distinctions in the category of Best Visual Design – Function (Apps & Software): the Webby Award, given by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences, and the People’s Voice Award, determined by public vote. This app was a key platform for fan interaction, offering real-time results, athlete information and personalized content to users around the world.

In the Video and Film categories, the IOC original series “Breaking Life: Road to Paris 2024” was named winner of the People’s Voice Award in the Sports (Series and Channels) category. Produced by the Olympic Channel, the four-episode series follows eight breaking athletes as they seek to qualify for the sport’s Olympic debut in Paris.

In addition, three other IOC-led projects related to Paris 2024 received nominations at the Webby Awards. The “1 in 100 Million” campaign, which highlighted the personal stories of the Olympic Refugee Team athletes, was nominated in the Best Cause-Related Campaign category. The “Wrestling My Family” series, which explores the life of the famous Phogat wrestling family in India, was nominated in the Reality and Non-Scripted category. Finally, the documentary “Teahupo’o Surf Camp: Road to Paris 2024,” which follows top surfers training on the iconic Teahupo’o wave in Tahiti, was nominated in the Sports Series and Limited Specials category.

IOC Partner Awards

Broadcast rights partners were also honored for their digital initiatives related to Paris 2024. NBC Sports received both the Webby Award and the People’s Voice Award in the Social – Sports category for its Olympic coverage on digital platforms.

NBCUniversal’s streaming platform, Peacock, was recognized in two categories: it received the Webby Award in Apps & Software – Entertainment and Sports for its Olympic Games streaming service, and the People’s Voice Award in Social – Best Community or Fan Interaction for its “Olympic Commentator Challenge” interactive campaign.

BBC Creative also won the People’s Voice Award in Advertising, Media and Public Relations – Best Use of Animation or Motion Graphics for its promotional campaign for Paris 2024.
