The Ju-Jitsu International Federation (JJIF) reaffirms its commitment to the fight against doping by becoming a key spokesperson for the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) among its partners and supporters. In line with the values of integrity and fair play it promotes, JJIF joins the global ‘Play True Day 2025’ campaign, to be held on April 11, to raise awareness of the importance of clean and doping-free sport.

CALL FOR INDIVIDUAL RESPONSIBILITY

Under this year’s slogan, ‘Play True: It Starts with You’, WADA puts the focus on the individual responsibility of athletes, coaches and all stakeholders involved in protecting the integrity of sport. JJIF, as a tireless advocate of sports ethics, supports this message and encourages the entire jiu-jitsu community to reflect on its role in the fight against doping.

Since its inception in 2014, ‘Play True Day’ has evolved from a small initiative to a global movement that reaches millions of people each year. In 2024, during its tenth edition, the campaign achieved a potential social media reach of more than 199 million people and generated more than 259,200 interactions. This impact demonstrates the strength of a community united around a common goal: ensuring clean sport.

THE JJIF’S COMMITMENT TO FAIR PLAY

JJIF has historically been a strong advocate for anti-doping, promoting education and awareness among its athletes and coaches. Through its programs and collaborations with WADA, the federation has worked to ensure that jiu-jitsu exemplifies sporting integrity. Its representatives assure that fair play is not just a principle, it is a commitment that must be made every day. The fight against doping starts with everyone, and JJIF is proud to be part of this global movement led by WADA.

A GLOBAL CAMPAIGN TO INSPIRE

‘Play True Day 2025’ seeks not only to raise awareness, but also to inspire action. This year, WADA is launching the #PlayTrueChallenge, a fitness-based challenge that kicked off this March 11 and invites athletes and sports enthusiasts to highlight the effort and dedication it takes to compete fairly. JJIF encourages its entire community to actively participate in this initiative, demonstrating that jiu-jitsu is a sport committed to ethics and respect.

WADA President Witold Bańka emphasized that “Play True Day is an opportunity for the entire sporting community to come together and reaffirm our commitment to clean sport. This year, the slogan ‘Play True: It Starts with You’ emphasizes that protecting the integrity of sport starts with each of us making the right choices.”
