Social networks are like that, right now you open X and Kim Yeji, South Korean Olympic pistol shooter, pops up in your TL. All because of a video in which the shooter can be seen beating the world record with an impeccable pose and style, looking at the camera with a dispassionate gesture. The strongest thing is that the video is not even from these Olympic Games in Paris, it is from the world championships in Baku where Kim Yeji broke the world record in 25 metres.
Coincidentally or not, in Paris 2024 Kim Yeji did not win the gold in that category, but Oh Ye Jin won the gold medal. Breaking the mystique of the video, it should be remembered that Kim Yeji’s sport was considered ‘a gentleman’s sport’ and there are certain rules of behaviour before, during and after the shooting.

Although the image is from other championships, it is already installed in the collective imagination and even the video game creator Hideo Kojima has published it on his networks, as the image is certainly suitable for cartoons.
Kim Yeji is still competing in the Olympic Games and can be seen these days in the 25-metre category.
