The Board of Administration of the FIVB Volleyball Foundation reaffirmed its commitment to social impact through sport by approving four new transformative projects for 2025. In a hybrid meeting held in Lausanne, Switzerland, the board discussed the role of volleyball as a tool to connect, serve, and inspire vulnerable communities around the world, focusing on well-being, inclusion, and empowerment.

The new initiatives build on the progress made since the Foundation’s launch in May 2024, which in just a few months has expanded its presence to countries such as India, Kenya, Thailand, and Qatar. In addition, during the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, more than 300,000 people took part in the Immersive Volleyball Experiences, reinforcing the Foundation’s effort to bring the sport to new audiences. With a clear roadmap for 2025, the Foundation also reviewed its accounts and budget as it prepares for a new cycle under the interim presidency of Fabio Azevedo.

Projects that transform communities through volleyball

The four approved projects reflect the global reach and social mission of the Foundation. In Jordan, Generations for Peace will focus on improving the mental health and psychosocial well-being of 100 displaced Syrian youth, combining volleyball with psychosocial support and conflict resolution. In Ethiopia, Beyond the Net 2025 aims to relaunch a previously suspended initiative due to the pandemic, integrating volleyball into rural schools to impact more than 3,000 children through an educational, humanitarian, and sporting approach.

In turn, Volley4Change in Vanuatu will focus on social inclusion and gender equity, empowering women and persons with disabilities through leadership and sports practice. In Tanzania, She Wants to Play will promote girls’ access to volleyball and education, combining training, personal development, and opportunities for growth. These programs reinforce the role of volleyball as a driver of change and solidify the Foundation’s vision of using sport to build stronger and more resilient communities.
