Report reveals the Success of ANOC General Assembly in Cascais

The Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) held its 27th General Assembly in Cascais, Portugal. This event brought together over 1,000 participants from 195 National Olympic Committees (NOCs), International Federations, the International Olympic Committee (IOC), and other key stakeholders of the Olympic Movement, solidifying its status as a globally significant gathering in the sports world.

A recent report by Quantum assessed the economic, media, and social impact of the 27th ANOC General Assembly, revealing significant results that highlight the importance of this event for both the host region and the Olympic Movement as a whole. The collected data underscores not only the success in terms of participation and organization but also the tangible benefits it generated across various sectors.

POSITIVE IMPACT

The report details that the General Assembly generated a direct economic impact of €2.47 million, driven by over 4,500 overnight stays in the Cascais and Lisbon region. Additionally, the event attracted participants from around the world, with 82% of delegates coming from abroad, further strengthening Cascais as an international destination for large-scale events.

In terms of media impact, the General Assembly received global coverage, with 42 hours of broadcasting across various platforms and a reach of 103 million people, generating an estimated media value of €5.6 million. ANOC’s social media accounts also saw great success, reaching 411,000 people and gaining 1,274 new followers, demonstrating the public’s interest and engagement in this event.
