The 3×3 basketball qualification route for Paris 2024 is as follows

One of the youngest disciplines in the Olympic movement is getting ready to define its last qualifiers for Paris 2024. There are still three instances left for 3×3 basketball to determine the eight teams, both men and women, that will compete in the next Olympic Games.

So far there are three places already filled, belonging to the best teams in the world ranking in November 2023. Serbia, the United States and China have already secured their places in the men’s tournament, while China, the United States and France will be in the women’s tournament.

THE REMAINING PLACES

The first will be played from April 12 to 14 in Hong Kong and will provide a place for Paris. The men’s event will be played by Hong Kong, China, the Netherlands, Mongolia, Latvia, Austria, Switzerland, Egypt and New Zealand. The women’s qualifier will be played by Hong Kong, China; Hungary, Netherlands, Azerbaijan, Poland, Egypt, Mongolia and Chile.

In Utsunomiya, Japan, the second Olympic tournament will be played between May 3 and 5, also with a quota to be shared. In the women’s event, Kenya, Brazil, Australia, the Netherlands, Japan, Germany, Canada and Austria will participate. In the men’s category, the countries seeking qualification will be Egypt, Puerto Rico, Mongolia, Lithuania, Japan, France, Latvia and Brazil.

The third and final round will be played in Debrecen, Hungary, from May 16 to 19. More teams will participate in this tournament and the last three places will be shared in both men’s and women’s categories.

THE TEAMS

In the men’s competition, Hungary, Egypt, Madagascar, Puerto Rico, Canada, Mongolia, Japan, France, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Latvia, Belgium, Austria, Switzerland, Germany and Poland will compete. On the women’s side will be Hungary, Egypt, Tunisia, Canada, Chile, Japan, Mongolia, Germany, Spain, Netherlands, Lithuania, Azerbaijan, Poland, Czech Republic, Italy and Israel.

Paris 2024 will be the second appearance of 3×3 basketball at the Olympic Games, after its debut at Tokyo 2020. It will be played between July 30 and August 5 at the Place de la Concorde, a venue that will also host skateboarding, BMX cycling and breaking.
