In an emotional closing ceremony held on Valentine’s Day, Timothy Fok, First Vice President of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), declared the 9th Asian Winter Games in Harbin officially closed. The event, which took place at the Harbin International Conference Center, marked the end of days of competition and camaraderie among athletes from 34 National Olympic Committees.
The ceremony, attended by Chinese Premier Li Qiang, not only fulfilled the required formalities and protocols but also conveyed a heartfelt sense of farewell. The people of Harbin bid goodbye to the Asian Winter Games, leaving a lasting impression on athletes and participants alike.
HARBIN 2025 CLOSING
Timothy Fok had the honor of closing the Games, while Gao Zhidan, President of the Chinese Olympic Committee, highlighted how Harbin 2025 had “rekindled the national passion” for winter sports. Fok also took part in the handover ceremony of the OCA flag from Harbin 2025 to Neom 2029. Wang Hesheng, Mayor of Harbin, handed the flag to Fok, who then passed it on to Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Faisal of Saudi Arabia, the host country for the 2029 Games.
The ceremony featured performances celebrating unity and friendship among Asian nations. The closing ceremony’s theme was “Spring Warms Harbin, Love Inspires Asia.” The event concluded with the extinguishing of the cauldron flame and a final performance by all artists, celebrating the success of the Asian Winter Games.
