In 2008, the Mediterranean Triathlon Federation (MedTF) was founded in Chania, Crete-Greece. The MedTF is an ambitious regional Triathlon project that refers to the development of Triathlon in the Mediterranean basin, and the presence of the current World Triathlon (WT) President and IOC Member, Mrs. Marisol Casado, among the founding members of the MedTF and the presence at the Mediterranean Championships in Malta of the WT Secretary General Mr. Antonio Arimany, indicate the importance of the MedTF for the WT.
