The fifth edition of the Digital Communication and Social Media Seminar concluded successfully in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, marking a significant advance in the digital capabilities of National Olympic Committees. This event, co-organized by ANOC and the NOC of Azerbaijan, brought together communication leaders from 15 NOCs in Europe and Asia for three days of hands-on learning, collaboration, and innovation.
One of the highlights of the seminar was the focus on artificial intelligence (AI)-based communication tools. Participants took part in hands-on workshops that allowed them to delve deeper into the digital landscape and acquire tools to improve their social media strategies. The event culminated in a friendly AI video generation contest, where NOCs applied the skills they had acquired during the sessions.
During the event, ANOC presented a preliminary report on the 2025 Games of the Small States of Europe held in Andorra. Although the final figures are still being consolidated, initial data points to a significant impact in terms of communication. The digital campaigns led by ANOC, in coordination with the participating NOCs, managed to reach approximately 30% of the combined population of the nine countries involved.
Personalized support for NOCs
Another key topic of the seminar was the update of ANOC’s Digital Accelerator Program. This program offers a portfolio of digital services designed to support NOCs before and during major sporting events. The services are ready to be activated on demand, providing personalized support to strengthen the digital presence of NOCs during competitions.
Through group work sessions, participants identified the communication needs of NOCs in the context of upcoming events such as the European Youth Olympic Festival in Skopje, the Asian Youth Games in Bahrain, and the Youth Olympic Games in Dakar. These discussions generated practical ideas that will guide ANOC’s support to NOCs in preparing for these events.
