The Olympic Movement takes a new step in its commitment to sustainable development with the launch of the National Olympic Committees (NOCs) Sustainability Dashboard, a tool designed to measure, compare, and strengthen the impact of these organizations worldwide. Driven by the Association of National Olympic Committees and the International Olympic Committee, the platform aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the current state of sustainability in sport, promoting transparency and continuous improvement across a diverse and evolving global community.

Inspired by previous data-driven initiatives, the new system not only makes it possible to track progress but also to identify concrete development opportunities. In a context where sport plays an increasingly important role in addressing social and environmental challenges, this platform emerges as a meeting point to share knowledge, build capacity, and guide strategic decision-making within NOCs.

A data-driven system to measure and compare progress

The Sustainability Dashboard introduces a structured approach that allows National Olympic Committees to understand their current position and compare themselves with similar organizations. Rather than establishing a single ranking, the system groups NOCs into categories—small, medium, and large—based on factors such as staff size or the number of athletes participating in recent Olympic Games, ensuring fairer and more contextualized evaluations.

Developed by IRIS Sports, the dashboard is built on a clear and transparent methodology. Every six months, organizations update their data through specific questionnaires that feed into a continuous monitoring system. Based on this information, performance is assessed across five key areas, from sustainability strategy to climate action and social impact, establishing maturity levels that help visualize each entity’s path of development.

A collaborative platform to drive concrete action

Beyond measurement, the dashboard serves as an active knowledge-sharing space within the Olympic ecosystem. Organizations can access documents, policies, and experiences shared by other NOCs, facilitating collective learning and the development of stronger strategies. This human and collaborative dimension reinforces the idea that sustainability is not an isolated goal, but a shared process.

In addition, the tool incorporates personalized recommendations that guide each organization’s next steps based on its level of development. Integrated into the ANOC Sustainability Accelerator program, which includes digital communities and training spaces, the dashboard becomes a practical guide for turning data into action, supporting NOCs in building a positive impact across sport, society, and the environment.
