The Paris 2024 Organizing Committee has released its Official Report, available online, detailing an unprecedented summer of celebration, inclusion and sporting excellence during the Olympic and Paralympic Games in the French capital. This document reflects how Paris 2024 set a new standard for future editions, with its bold vision of “Games Open to All.”
The report highlights how the Games transformed iconic Paris landmarks into vibrant sporting venues, from beach volleyball under the Eiffel Tower to fencing at the Grand Palais, attracting record crowds and creating indelible memories.
Historic achievements in gender equality and inclusion
Paris 2024 marked a milestone by becoming the first Olympic Games with full gender parity in the competitions. This achievement was celebrated with initiatives such as an increase in co-ed events and balanced gender representation among volunteers and workers. In addition, the innovative ‘Marathon for All’ allowed for the first time amateur runners to participate in a mass event on the same Olympic course, symbolizing Paris 2024′s commitment to inclusivity.
Environmental sustainability as a pillar of Paris 2024
Sustainability was a central focus of Paris 2024, achieving a halving of carbon emissions compared to London 2012 and Rio 2016. This approach, aligned with Olympic Agenda 2020, presented a model of responsible Games with lasting impact. Notable legacies include the transformation of the Olympic Village into a new accessible neighborhood in Seine-Saint-Denis and the implementation of the “30 minutes of exercise a day” program in French schools.
The report also celebrates memorable sporting moments, such as Léon Marchand’s swimming records, Cassandre Beaugrand’s triathlon triumph in the Seine and the French team’s emotional victory in soccer for the blind at the Paralympic Games. At the global level, achievements such as Armand Duplantis’ world record in pole vaulting and Cuban wrestler Mijaín López’s historic fifth consecutive gold medal were highlighted.
