There is less and less left for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games and the different sports are closing their qualifying lists. One of them is mountain bike, so the International Cycling Union distributed the quotas to the National Confederations so that they can designate the proper names that will be in the Olympic event.

Some Spanish-speaking countries benefited from the distribution. Mexico, Spain, Chile and Colombia will have representatives in the mountain biking test that will take place on Elancourt Hill, the highest point in the Paris region at 231 meters high and which will host the test that combines speed and pedaling ability. in complicated terrain.

Spain achieved two quotas in the men’s competition, seeking to be on the podium for the third consecutive Olympic Games. David Valero, bronze winner in Tokyo, is expected to occupy one of the places according to the proposal of the Spanish Cycling Federation.

Mexico will also have two places in Paris, one for women and the other for men, after what happened in last year’s Pan American Mountain Bike Championships. Meanwhile, Colombia must define who will occupy the classification obtained for the men’s competition.

The country that has already defined its representative is Chile, which confirmed that Martín Vidaurre will go to his second Olympic Games. The Chilean has just won a silver medal at the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games, in a year in which he was fourth in the under 23 World Cup (in 2022 he was world champion in the same category). He has also ventured into road cycling, but his greatest interest and potential is in the mountains, seeking to repeat the international podium in Paris 2024.
