After this year’s final, the UEFA Champions League 2024-2025 is already formed with almost all the qualified teams and new changes that will lead to a different competition to those that have been usual, being the new group format what has changed the most compared to all these recent years.

The new format will increase from 32 to 36 teams and all will face each other in a common classification, although they will face only 8 rivals, four at home and four away, which will be decided by the four pots into which the draw will be divided.

The top eight of this league will go directly into the round of 16 and from ninth to twenty-fourth there will be a play-off round-robin playoff to determine who will advance to the crossings. From the 25th position onwards, they will be out of Europe.

THE POTS AND GROUPS

In the group 1 are Manchester City, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, PSG, Liverpool, Inter, Borussia Dortmund, Leipzig and Barça. In the second group are Bayer Leverkusen, Atlético de Madrid, Atalanta, Juventus, Benfica, Arsenal and Brugge, and it is still to be determined whether Shakhtar, Eintracht or Milan will join them.

In the third, Feyenoord, Sporting and PSV Eindhoven are sure to join them. From here on there are many novelties in the participants. In the fourth group, Sturm Graz and Brest have secured their positions. Celtic, Monaco, Aston Villa, Bologna, Girona and Stuttgart are still unsure whether they will be in pot 3 or 4.

In addition, there are still to be placed the teams that will arrive from the qualifiers that will be played this summer. In total, 52 teams still have to fight for the last seven remaining places to complete the 2024-2025 Champions League. In these qualifying rounds that start in July, there are unusual teams in the Champions League such as the Irish Shamrock Rovers or the Gibraltar Lincoln Red Imps, but there are also more usual teams such as Fenerbahçe, Dinamo Zagreb or Qarabag, of bad memory for the red and white fans of Atlético de Madrid.
