The Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) has unveiled the new trophy that will be awarded to the champion of the revamped Club World Cup starting in 2025. This edition will be the first in an expanded format, featuring 32 teams in a structure similar to the FIFA World Cup. The United States has been selected as the host country, with the tournament scheduled from June 15 to July 13, 2025.
The trophy, designed in collaboration with the iconic jeweler Tiffany & Co., is a 24-karat gold disc that stands out for its innovative concept. Inspired by the golden records of NASA’s Voyager missions, it features engravings in thirteen languages and in Braille, representing FIFA’s 211 member associations and six confederations. It also includes astronomical details that pay tribute to the founding of FIFA in 1904 and the inaugural match of the tournament in 2025.
NEW FORMAT AND QUALIFIELD TEAMS
The new Club World Cup will take place every four years, mirroring the model of the FIFA World Cup. The 32 participating teams will be divided into eight groups of four teams each, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the Round of 16. From this stage, knockout rounds will be held until the grand final, which is set to take place on July 13 in New York.
Among the teams already qualified are continental champions and standout clubs from various leagues around the world. Inter Miami, led by Lionel Messi, will be one of the representatives from Major League Soccer (MLS), although their qualification has sparked controversy after being eliminated in the playoffs of the American league. The group stage draw will take place on December 5, 2024, in Miami.
The trophy is here! ✨
Crafted in collaboration with @TiffanyAndCo, this trophy will be awarded for the first time to the winners of the inaugural #FIFACWC taking place next year.
