Spain has left an indelible mark on the U-22 Basque Pelota World Championship of fronton 36 meters, held in Pamplona, by achieving an impressive sweep of victories in all the finals. The national team claimed gold in all six finals, firmly establishing itself as the tournament’s dominant force. In addition, the team secured two silver medals in the men’s and women’s Cesta Punta categories, highlighting their absolute dominance in the sport.

Saturday’s matches, which concluded the championship, were particularly noteworthy with victories in Individual Hand, Doubles Hand, and Short Paddle. In Individual Hand, Ekhi Irribarria gave his Mexican rival, Medina, no chance. The duo of Unai Amiano and Carmelo Loza replicated this dominance in Doubles Hand, defeating the Mexicans Hernández and Moctezuma. These triumphs marked the culmination of a tournament where Spain displayed exceptional skill across all categories.

For Julián García Ángulo, President of the Spanish Pelota Federation, this success is the result of years of hard work and dedication. He thanked the team for their effort and commitment, both in preparation and during the tournament.

The final medal tally reflects Spain’s dominance, with six gold and two silver medals, confirming Spain as the undisputed powerhouse in the world of Basque pelota in this category.
