The recent Volleyball Festival organized by the KISS Foundation in Bhubaneswar, India, brought together over 40,000 children, including 5,000 players who actively participated in the activities. This massive event stood out for its significant social and sporting impact, being the first of its kind held on the campus of the Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS). The festival’s main objective was to promote physical activity through volleyball and strengthen community ties.

With the support of the FIVB Volleyball Foundation, created this year to use volleyball as a tool for social transformation, the festival offered an unforgettable experience for the participating children. Activities took place across multiple courts spread throughout the campus, allowing hundreds of children to play volleyball simultaneously, fostering an atmosphere of fun and camaraderie.

One of the most anticipated moments of the event was the attempt to break a Guinness World Record, where 500 players participated in an indoor exhibition volleyball match. This challenge added an exciting element to the festival, closely followed by attendees and the media. The event’s organization was flawless, with all necessary measures in place to ensure the children’s safety and well-being.

Additionally, the festival was attended by champions from the Brahmaputra Volleyball League (BVL), who were invited to join the activities. The BVL is an initiative involving thousands of children from rural communities in Assam, and their participation in the festival marked an important milestone, as it was the first time many of them traveled outside their region.

The event not only focused on sports but also celebrated the rich local culture of Odisha, with artistic performances that reflected the region’s heritage and the institutions involved. The festival left a lasting impact on the hearts of the participants, and it is expected to be the first of many in the coming years.
