New season for World Curling with different issues on the table. Before listing the main developments, it should be recalled that the International Olympic Committee (IOC) officially confirmed in December the schedules for the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, in which curling will start two days before the opening ceremony, scheduled for February 4, and will be the only sport in competition every day of the Games, ensuring constant entertainment for fans.

On the sidelines of this excellent Olympic news, Spain, New Zealand, Turkey and Finland have already qualified for the 2025 World Mixed Doubles Curling Championships after taking the top spots at the qualifying event held in Dumfries, Scotland.

FINLAND, EPICENTER OF WORLD CURLING

The Kisakallio Sports Institute in Lohja, Finland, will host a motor skills acquisition conference in March 2025 in collaboration with the University of Jyväskyläin. This event reinforces Finland’s position as a key center for research and development in sports such as curling.

The list of qualified teams for the 2025 World Junior Curling Championships was also completed. The final berths were earned by three men’s and three women’s teams through their victories at the 2024 World Junior-B Curling Championships, also held in Lohja.

NEW WORLD CURLING PARTNERSHIP

World Curling also has announced a strategic partnership with FeedConstruct, a leading data provision company. This agreement seeks to boost fan engagement globally through the use of advanced technology for real-time analytics and interaction.
