International Olympic Committee (IOC) Vice-President Juan Antonio Samaranch has positioned himself as a central figure in the debate on the future of global sport during a conference organized by Bruin Capital in London last week. The IOC presidential candidate highlighted the challenges and opportunities facing the Olympic movement in a world marked by economic, geopolitical and technological uncertainty.
The event, which brought together more than 50 high-profile guests, included figures such as former British Prime Minister Tony Blair and former EU competition commissioner Margrethe Vestager. However, it was Samaranch who stressed the importance of addressing these issues in the context of the upcoming IOC presidential election, to be held on March 20 in Costa Navarino, Greece.

“Artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies are not only changing the way sport is played, but also how it is managed and how it connects with fans,” Samaranch explained.
