From 20-23 November, the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) and the International Olympic Committee (IOC) brought together representatives from 25 National Olympic Committees (NOCs) for a feedback session at ANOC headquarters in Lausanne. The four-day meeting’s main objective was to analyse the lessons learned from the Paris 2024 Olympic Games and to formulate key recommendations for Los Angeles 2028 and future editions.
The session allowed for an open dialogue between NOC representatives from around the world, addressing crucial topics such as NOC services, Olympic Village facilities and services, and optimisation of operational processes. Through the exchange of experiences, participants explored innovative solutions to improve the planning and execution of the next Olympic Games. This is key to the continued evolution and innovation in the quality of the Olympic Games for the athletes, something that will have a direct impact on the outcome of the Games and therefore on the spectacle that the whole world will experience live or on screen.
LESSONS FROM PARIS 2024 FOR FUTURE GAMES
Gunilla Lindberg, ANOC Secretary General, highlighted the importance of these collaborative sessions during her speech. “These breakout sessions are vital for the Olympic Movement. They allow us to reflect on what worked well and identify areas for improvement. By listening to the NOCs‘ experiences, we can ensure that future Games continue to evolve, offering better experiences for athletes, organisers and spectators,” she said.
Among the topics discussed was the focus on improving services in the Olympic Village, one of the fundamental pillars for the athletes’ comfort and preparation during the Games. In addition, strategies to increase operational efficiency and sustainability in the organisation of the events were discussed.
COLLABORATION FOR A BETTER OLYMPIC EXPERIENCE
This collaboration between the ANOC and the IOC reinforces their joint commitment to continuously improve the Olympic experience. The exchange of ideas and best practices seeks not only to optimise the upcoming Los Angeles 2028 Games, but also to foster greater cooperation between members of the Olympic family.
As preparations for Los Angeles take shape, these feedback initiatives underline the NOCs’ central role in Games planning. Such meetings ensure that the voices of all stakeholders are heard, driving a constant evolution in the standards of the Olympic Games.
