The sporting pulse of the continent is beating stronger than ever in Peru, which is preparing to welcome more than 4,000 athletes to the Ayacucho–Lima 2025 Bolivarian Games, taking place from November 22 to December 7. With just days to go, excitement and anticipation fill the air, in a country that has made sport a celebration of identity and pride. Lima, Ayacucho, Callao, and Ica will host an event that will not only test athletic excellence but also showcase the organizational capacity and unity of the Peruvian people.
This competition, marking the 20th edition of the Bolivarian Games, will be the final major sporting event of 2025 and will bring together 17 countries in a gathering that goes beyond competition to become a tribute to Latin American integration. Alongside the Bolivarian nations —Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Panama, Peru, and Venezuela— guest countries such as Chile, Costa Rica, Curaçao, El Salvador, Guatemala, Jamaica, Paraguay, the Dominican Republic, Trinidad and Tobago, and Uruguay will also participate. A cultural and sporting mosaic that promises to write a new chapter in the history of regional Olympism.
A celebration of integration and sporting legacy
The president of the Bolivarian Sports Organization (ODEBO), Baltazar Medina, highlighted the symbolic value of this edition, which reflects unity and sporting development across the region. “Bringing together more than 4,000 athletes from all Bolivarian and invited delegations in the most important sporting event of our calendar is a great achievement,” he said. For Medina, the Games represent an opportunity to strengthen the bonds between brother nations and leave a legacy of cooperation that transcends the podium and medals.
Recognition also went to the joint efforts of the Organizing Committee, the Peruvian Olympic Committee (COP), the Peruvian Sports Institute (IPD), and the National Government, pillars that have made this event possible. Their commitment has ensured that logistics, infrastructure, and planning meet the standards of a continental event, once again demonstrating that Peru has the capacity and experience to host top-level competitions — a prelude to the upcoming Lima 2027 Pan American Games.
Peru, host and heart of the Bolivarian spirit
For the Peruvian Olympic Committee, the Games represent a unique opportunity to showcase the passion and talent of the host country to the world. Its president, Renzo Manyari, stated that the event will be a showcase for Peruvians to support their athletes and experience the thrill of sport at home. “Peru wants to be a protagonist of these Games; that’s why we’ll compete with our best athletes. We hope all Peruvians will be part of this event and support our athletes as they always have,” he said proudly.
Among the national athletes who will shine at the competition is sailor Stefano Peschiera, bronze medalist at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, a symbol of the high level of competition expected in every discipline. With the opening ceremony set for November 22 at the Estadio Las Américas in Ayacucho, the Ayacucho–Lima 2025 Bolivarian Games promise to deliver an experience filled with excitement, history, and the strength of a continent united through sport.
