CISA hosts the “African Sport in Motion” convention in Dakar with a focus on innovation and inclusion

CISA and the city of Dakar (Senegal) is set to host the “Africa Sport on the Move” convention, a high-level event bringing together sports leaders, technology and development experts, and representatives from various sports federations across the continent. The convention will take place from February 19 to 21, 2025, at Place du Souvenir Africain, featuring a packed program of panels, workshops, and seminars focused on the sustainable growth of sports in Africa.

With the collaboration of SportsIn and the participation of key figures from the world of sports and technology, the event will cover topics such as digital transformation in sports, inclusion of athletes with disabilities, the development of esports in Africa, and funding opportunities for sports projects.

TECHNOLOGY, ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE, AND ESPORTS

One of the main themes of the convention will be the digital revolution in sports, with experts analyzing the impact of artificial intelligence and technology on the evolution of sports disciplines. Speakers such as Abderahmane Yacine Saoudi Mabrouk, Leandro Larrosa, and Carter Tian will discuss how innovation is changing sports management.

Another key topic will be the development of esports in Africa, a rapidly growing sector that presents significant economic and career opportunities for African youth. The convention will feature HRH Faisal Bin Bandar Bin Sultan Al Saud, who will explain how Saudi Arabia has led the expansion of esports and what lessons can be applied to the African continent.

GENDER EQUALITY AND TALENT DEVELOPMENT

The convention will also highlight gender equality in sports, with a panel featuring Lydia Nsekera, Fardouza, and Maureen Rosita Ojong Ebob-Besong, prominent leaders advocating for inclusion and diversity in the sports sector.

Another major focus will be the development of youth sports projects and the retention of African talent, with experts such as Hugues Fabrice Zango and Amadou Dia Ba sharing strategies to improve conditions for African athletes and prevent talent drain.

Sports funding will also be a key topic, with discussions on investment models and value chains within the sports ecosystem. Panelists Marco Mazzi, Manizor Thiam, and Nasser Majali will explore new ways to economically boost the sector.

AFRICA’S ROLE ON THE INTERNATIONAL STAGE

The event will conclude with an analysis of sports geopolitics and diplomacy, featuring experts like Sam Ramsamy and Amadou Galo Fall, who will discuss Africa’s role in the international context and its impact on the development of high-level sporting events.

Additionally, a special session will focus on Senegalese wrestling, a traditional sport aiming to expand globally, with the participation of legend Yahya Diop “Yekini”.

The convention will wrap up with a closing session on February 21, presenting official recommendations for the future of African sports. With a strong emphasis on innovation, inclusion, and sustainable development, this event is set to be a turning point in the evolution of sports across the continent.
