The FIBA 3×3 2025 season is in full swing with back-to-back stops across continents. In the women’s field, Canada confirmed its dominance in the Women’s Series by going unbeaten in Bordeaux, while Netherlands prepare to return for the next stop in Sabail (Azerbaijan). On the men’s side, Serbian powerhouse Ub aim to extend their dominance in Bordeaux before Amsterdam Rabobank look to break their drought in Taipei.
The events in France, Azerbaijan and Taiwan mark a key stretch of the season, with World Tour tickets and vital ranking points on the line.
Canada claims Bordeaux in the Women’s Series
In Bordeaux, Canada delivered a flawless performance to secure back-to-back titles after winning as host in Edmonton. Led by Saicha Grant-Allen, who earned MVP honors, the team stayed perfect and shone in the semifinal against USA, winning 20-15. In the final against Austria, Canada prevailed 18-12 thanks to a standout display from Paige Crozon, who posted 10 points and 5 rebounds.
Austria was the surprise package, eliminating France and CS Rapid Bucharest (ROU) along the way. Despite falling short in the title game, Sina Höllerl and Alexia Allesch showcased their ability to compete at the highest level of the Women’s Series. Spain finished in fifth place.
Sabail hosts the next Women’s Series stop
The Women’s Series now heads to Sabail on August 23-24, where Netherlands return after more than a month off. The Dutch side already hold three titles in five appearances this season, and star Noortje Driessen will once again lead the charge. Rising talent Zoe Slagter, shining with the U25 squad, also features in the main draw.
The competition will also include strong contenders such as hosts Azerbaijan, winners of the last two stops, as well as Latvia, Czechia, Poland and China, all capable of deep runs. Philippines, boosted by crowd favorite Kaye Pingol, join the field alongside emerging teams Mongolia and Egypt, who will look to qualify from the play-in stage.
Ub chasing more gold in Bordeaux
On the men’s side, action returns to Bordeaux on August 22-23 with the 10th Challenger of the season. Ub (Serbia), world No.1, arrive as clear favorites after winning six of their last seven events, powered by stars Strahinja Stojacic and Nemanja Barac. Toulouse (France), with three titles in 2025, will count on home support in their bid to topple the Serbian juggernaut.
Other contenders include Liman (Serbia), champions in Ulaanbaatar, and Lugano (Switzerland), semifinalists in Lausanne with Malik Hluchoweckyj in top form. Riffa (Bahrain), London (USA), Barcelona and Valencia complete the draw, where the top three teams will book a ticket to the World Tour stop in Shenzhen.
Tickets on the line
The 11th Challenger takes place in Taipei on August 23-24, with Amsterdam Rabobank (Netherlands) headlining the field. Despite being the top seed, the Dutch squad is still searching for their first title of 2025. Among their rivals are Raudondvaris Hoptrans (Lithuania), winners of a World Tour event this season, as well as Hangzhou (China) and Baskets Bonn Telekom (Germany).
In the men’s category, the top three finishers in the Bordeaux Challenger will qualify directly for the World Tour Shenzhen, while in Taipei crucial ranking points will be up for grabs, shaping entry into upcoming stops on the global circuit.
