The FIBA 3×3 Women’s Series has reached record-breaking engagement, with the Final bringing the 2024 season to a close in Hangzhou, China, on September 7 and 8. The premier 3×3 women’s professional basketball circuit shattered previous records for online engagement, underlining the ever-growing global popularity of women’s 3×3.
Over the course of the 2024 season, which featured 20 stops culminating in the Final, the FIBA 3×3 Women’s Series drew 50 million impressions across its digital platforms, a 51% increase compared to the previous year. Moreover, the Women’s Series recorded 41 million views in 2024, a 64% increase from 2023. This growth in viewership highlights the exciting nature of the fast-paced 3×3 format and the world class talent on display in the Women’s Series.
“3×3 is a lot of fun”
The Women’s Series’ commitment to connecting with its fans evident in the 2.7 million engagements recorded in 2024, representing a 35% increase compared to the previous year. “I think the Women’s Series gives a lot of opportunities for women to play international basketball,” said Canada’s 3×3 basketball star Michelle Plouffe. “3×3 is a lot of fun, and the Women’s Series is the highest level of competition.”
The FIBA 3×3 Women’s Series 2024 Final saw a major spike in digital engagement compared to the previous year, with impressions hitting 5.6 million, up from 2.6 million in 2023. Viewership also rose by 150% to 4.5 million from 1.8 million. Finally, engagements rose by 90% to 0.2 million from 0.1 million.

Women in Basketball became a key Strategic Priority in 2019 for FIBA, with the aim to increase female involvement at all levels of the sport. The FIBA 3×3 Women’s Series is a key component of this priority, as well as building the fan base of the women’s game.
