Germany’s Skyliners were crowned champions of the FIBA 3×3 World Tour Abu Dhabi 2025 after edging Miami –USA– 19-17 in a thrilling final held in the UAE capital on October 26. The German squad captured their first-ever World Tour title, becoming the ninth different team to lift a trophy this season. Lugano also claimed their maiden win in the previous stop, joining Toulouse, Liman, Raudondvaris Hoptrans, Vienna, and London among the list of one-time winners.
That list also includes Miami, who have collected two victories this year, and the Ub squad, semifinalists in Abu Dhabi, who fell to the eventual champions led by Stefan Kojic and Leon Fertig. Ub remains the most successful team this season with six titles so far and continues to lead the standings in overall points.
Thrilling final, clutch shot, and MVP performance
Miami entered the tournament on a strong run of form, reaching several finals in recent months. In Abu Dhabi, the American side once again went unbeaten through pool play before defeating Amsterdam in the semifinals to book another shot at the title.
With the clock winding down, Leon Fertig rose to the occasion, hitting the decisive two-pointer to seal a dramatic 19-17 win for Skyliners. The German guard finished with 10 points in the final and 30 overall throughout the tournament, earning MVP honors for his outstanding performance and a player value of 46.3.
The event also celebrated individual contest winners: Hsin-wei Wang (Taipei WanBao) claimed the Shoot-out Contest presented by Al Ain Water, while Piotr ‘Grabo’ Grabowski took home the Dunk Contest trophy presented by Al Masaood Automobiles. In the final standings, Skyliners topped the podium, followed by Miami, Ub, and Amsterdam RABOBank, with Toulouse completing the Top 5.
An event with a sustainability focus
Beyond the action on court, the FIBA 3×3 World Tour Abu Dhabi 2025 stood out for its strong commitment to sustainability and environmental innovation. Held at the south entrance of Marina Mall, the event implemented a comprehensive carbon-neutrality plan. Supported by SustainPro Solutions, the Official Sustainability Partner, and in coordination with the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, the initiative aligned with the UAE’s Net Zero 2050 roadmap.
The venue featured a sustainability-first design using eco-friendly materials and solar energy to power the Sustainability Display Zone. Additional initiatives included verified recycling stations, a solar-powered “Water Wall” providing biodegradable cups to eliminate single-use plastics, and electric vehicles for staff and delegate transportation.
Impact Hero partnership and environmental legacy
In a new initiative for 2025, FIBA 3×3 joined forces with Impact Hero, a Berlin-based impact-tech company focused on measurable environmental and social progress. Through the “Plant a Tree & Help Save the Planet” campaign, fans were invited to scan a QR code at the Sustainability Zone to plant a tree and receive a personalized digital certificate. A live counter displayed the total number of trees planted, reflecting the collective engagement of fans in climate action.
Following the event, SustainPro Solutions will deliver a detailed Sustainability Report to FIBA 3×3 and the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, including verified results, carbon offset data, and strategic recommendations to further strengthen the sustainability framework for future international competitions.
