The global karate community is mourning the loss of Dr. Vladimir Jorga, the President of the European Traditional Karate Federation and Vice President of the International Traditional Karate Federation (ITKF), who passed away on August 15, 2024, at the age of 85. Known as a pioneer of karate in the former Yugoslavia, Dr. Jorga’s contributions to the sport have left an indelible mark on martial arts worldwide.
Dr. Jorga’s journey began when karate was still a relatively unknown discipline in his region. Through years of dedication and perseverance, he emerged as a key figure in establishing and popularizing the sport across Yugoslavia and beyond. He was a founding member of the first Yugoslav national karate team and served as the first President of the Karate Federation of Yugoslavia.
