The 2025 Final National Muaythai Championship took place in Ibagué (Tolima) from October 31 to November 2, bringing together more than 150 athletes from different regions across Colombia. Organized by the Colombian Muaythai Federation -FCMT- and sanctioned by the International Federation of Muaythai Associations -IFMA-, the event marked the end of the national competition calendar and served as a qualifier for athletes aiming to represent the country in upcoming international events.

The championship has become one of the key fixtures on Colombia’s Muaythai calendar, reflecting the steady growth of the discipline nationwide. Officially recognized by the Colombian Olympic Committee and the Ministry of Sport, Muaythai continues to gain presence in the national sports landscape thanks to the collaborative efforts of coaches, regional leagues, and athletes driving its technical and educational development.

The rise of Colombian Muaythai

Over three days, the Ibagué Coliseum hosted bouts across multiple male and female categories, featuring judges and officials accredited by IFMA. The FCMT highlighted both the technical level of the athletes and the spirit of camaraderie among regional teams, positioning the championship as a platform for identifying and developing new Muaythai talent in Colombia.

Beyond the competition, the event promoted the values of respect, integrity, and inclusion that define Muaythai under IFMA’s global framework. The organization ensured equal opportunities for athletes from all regions, reaffirming Colombia’s commitment to fair play and to the holistic development of its practitioners.

The Ibagué event formed part of the FCMT’s official qualification pathway for the continental and world championships governed by IFMA, where Colombia has achieved notable progress. At the 2025 IFMA Pan American Championships, the national delegation secured the overall runner-up position, consolidating its status as one of the region’s emerging powers and demonstrating the effectiveness of the national development system.

Colombian Muaythai’s evolution is also visible in the strengthening of regional structures and the expansion of the national calendar. The 2023 and 2024 championships attracted an increasing number of participants and host cities, building a sports network that spans the entire country. The 2025 edition represents the consolidation of that process, with solid organization, international recognition, and a unified vision toward sporting excellence.

The FCMT 2025 Final National Championship was conducted under IFMA’s international regulations, ensuring the highest standards of ethics, safety, and fairness. According to official information, the Colombian Muaythai Federation remains an active member of the international structure and continues to take part in IFMA’s development and governance initiatives worldwide.
