The Alliance of Independent Recognized Members of Sport (AIMS) held a virtual Extraordinary Assembly this Tuesday, where the successful incorporation of World Boxing as a new member of the organization was highlighted. World Boxing’s application underwent a rigorous evaluation process by the SportAccord Executive Committee and Membership Committee, who confirmed that it met all the necessary criteria. This decision was approved by the AIMS Board and its members, marking a significant milestone for World Boxing to officially join the prestigious AIMS family.
The meeting also addressed other important topics, such as the possibility of establishing an AIMS office in China to support the development of national federations in the region. In addition, collaborative initiatives with organizations such as WADA and ITA, focused on promoting equality and inclusion in sport, were discussed. AIMS also announced its participation in the UTS festival in Malaysia, to be held in October, as an opportunity to engage national federations in the region.
EXTRAORDINARY ASSEMBLY
The addition of World Boxing to AIMS is a significant step for the organization as it strengthens its position in the global sports movement. The comprehensive evaluation conducted by SportAccord ensured that World Boxing meets the standards required to be part of AIMS, reflecting the organization’s commitment to transparency and compliance with international standards. This membership not only strengthens World Boxing, but also broadens AIMS’ influence in the boxing world.
The Assembly also explored the possibility of expanding its presence in different regions of the world. The proposal to establish an office in China seeks to support members who do not yet have an established presence in the country by encouraging the development of national federations. In addition, there are plans to establish an office in Africa as part of a broader strategy to operate continental support offices.
