The Netherlands were proclaimed world champions in Men’s Group B of the bandy tournament held at the Serwent Arena in Uppsala, Sweden. The Dutch team achieved a flawless performance by winning every match of the tournament, establishing itself as one of the most outstanding teams of the tournament.

In addition to the Netherlands, other teams also achieved important milestones. Switzerland, for example, won its first match in a world championship tournament by defeating Slovakia in the preliminary round with a narrow 4-3 win. This victory marked a historic moment for the Swiss team, which not only advanced in the tournament, but also played its first bronze medal match. Although they lost to Great Britain, Switzerland has made significant strides in investing in the development of young players who choose bandy as their sport.

THANKS TO IFK UPPSALA

The Federation on International Bandy (FIB) expressed its thanks to the tournament organizer, IFK Uppsala, for its dedication and ambitious work that made it possible to create a memorable event for all participants. The FIB especially highlighted the work of Ludvig von Polgar, who was responsible for coordinating all elements of the tournament to ensure its success.

The tournament was also an example of sustainability, as the proximity between the hotel, arena and restaurant allowed participants to enjoy a comfortable and environmentally friendly service.

VOTING FOR THE FIB ATHLETES’ COMMITTEE

During the tournament, the FIB conducted the first phase of voting for the federation’s new Athletes’ Committee. This committee will focus on collecting players’ opinions, suggestions and experiences to improve bandy at the international level. The voting was supervised by FIB Secretary General Attila Adamfi and Istvan von Polgar of the IFK Uppsala organizing committee.

The election will continue at the next World Championship in Lidköping in a week and a half, where players will have the opportunity to continue participating in this democratic process that seeks to strengthen the sport globally.
