The Federation of International Bandy (FIB) held its Ordinary Congress, which concluded with the election of the Executive Committee. Thirteen countries were represented, and some participated in the congress online.
During this congress, several important decisions were made. Italy was granted full member status, amendments to the Statutes were made, various committee reports were approved, and a Strategic Plan for the FIB was created to ensure the organization’s sustainable future. Additionally, the FIB aims to create a direct pathway for athlete representation on its governing body, and the members of the Athletes’ Committee approved by the FIB EC were ratified: Ville Kristian Aaltonen, Daniel Laszlo Bata, Gian Luca Dario Beeler, Rebecca Lynn Draper, and Sanna Gustafsson.
In conclusion, the congress unanimously supported the Electoral Committee’s proposal and elected Henrik Nilsson as president, Stein Pedersen as first vice president, and Attila Adamfi and Antti Parviainen as vice presidents. The members of the executive committee will be Mikhail Entaltsev, Chanel Gilomen, Andrew Knutson, and Dawei Wu.
Henrik Nilsson, FIB president, expressed his gratitude to all members for their unity and support: “I am very happy to be elected as the new president and would like to thank the Member Associations for placing their trust in me. I am confident that with the continued collaboration of the different stakeholders, we can achieve our goals and ensure a better future for the sport.”
After the congress ended, the new FIB Executive Committee held its first meeting, where the date of the next meeting was agreed upon, and urgent matters such as next year’s World Championship were discussed.
PRE-CONGRESS MEETING
The day before the Congress, the FIB Executive Committee met to make some decisions before the new Executive Committee was formed. Among the decisions was the aforementioned appointment of the Athletes’ Committee, which was later ratified.
