The World Gym for Life Challenge 2025, to be held in Lisbon, Portugal, from July 22 to 26, has received significant international backing: the official sponsorship of UNESCO. The Director-General of the organization decided to support this initiative led by the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG), highlighting its value as a platform that promotes physical activity in an inclusive way, open to people of all ages and cultural backgrounds.
This sponsorship represents a recognition of the FIG’s work in promoting sport as a tool for social cohesion and global well-being. Moreover, the World Challenge becomes the second Gymnastics for All event supported by UNESCO in 2025, following the Colloquium held in Baku, reinforcing the shared commitment between both institutions to physical activity as a universal right and need.
An event aligned with the values of UNESCO
By granting its sponsorship, UNESCO emphasized that the World Gym for Life Challenge aligns with the objectives of the Fit for Life Global Alliance, an initiative by the organization itself that promotes safe and inclusive sporting environments for all. In this regard, the event in Lisbon is not only a celebration of gymnastics, but also a showcase of best practices surrounding inclusion and diversity in sport.
The initiative will bring together participants of all ages, skill levels, and cultural backgrounds, celebrating the richness of bodily expression beyond competition. This vision of gymnastics, focused on participation and community, is precisely what UNESCO aims to foster globally through its sports and educational programs.
