The 34th edition of the FIBA Intercontinental Cup will be played from September 12-15 at the Singapore Sports Hub, and will feature clubs from all five FIBA regions for the first time ever. In addition, the Asian country will host the emotional 2024 FIBA Hall of Fame induction ceremony on the same weekend. It is the kick-off to a new season in which FIBA will wear short on the court and long to pay tribute to heroes and heroines of world basketball.
“The FIBA Intercontinental Cup is a unique global experience in club basketball, but the 34th edition will mark a remarkable milestone in basketball history. It is fitting that Singapore, which ushered in the new era of the competition last year, will also provide the stage for its expansion to Oceania (Tasmania JackJumpers) and for the FIBA Hall of Fame induction ceremony,” commented FIBA Secretary General Andreas Zagklis.
The FIBA Intercontinental Cup 2024 will be made up of Lebanon’s Al Riyadi, the last team to seal its ticket and who will represent Asia by winning the inaugural Basketball Champions League Asia title on Saturday. Angola’s Petro de Luanda, the first team from sub-Saharan Africa to win the Basketball Africa League, operated in partnership between FIBA and the NBA; Basketball Champions League Americas champion Quimsa (Argentina); Basketball Champions League Europe champion Unicaja (Spain); NBA G League United (USA), representing the NBA G League; and, for the first time ever, a club from Oceania: the NBL 2024 champion Tasmania JackJumpers.
