The Paris 2024 Olympic Games are taking more and more shape. With about 100 days to go until the biggest sporting event on the planet begins, several sports are holding qualifying championships on different continents. One of those is fencing, which in America has already defined its participants for the mega event that will begin next Friday, July 26.
The Pan American Fencing Championship was held in Costa Rica, which directly awarded places for Paris 2024. Three categories were competed for both genders: foil, saber and épée, where the best fencers on the continent participated.
The results? Gibran Zea from Mexico, Nicholas Zhang from Canada, Mariana Pistoia from Brazil, María Luisa Doig from Peru, Katherine Paredes from Venezuela and Kruz Schembri from the Virgin Islands secured their presence at the Olympic Games.
The Paris 2024 fencing will be held between July 27 and August 4 at the Grand Palace, where taekwondo will also be held.
