The 49th General Assembly of the Association of Summer Olympic International Federations –ASOIF– elected four new officials to join its Council. Among them, Andreas Zagklis, Secretary General of the FIBA, and Nenad Lalovic, representative of UWW (United World Wrestling), stand out as they assume important roles within the organization.
Both were appointed for a four-year term along with Jean-Christophe Rolland, President of World Rowing. Meanwhile, Ximena Restrepo, current Senior Vice President of World Athletics, will join the Council for a two-year term.
Experienced leadership with an Olympic vision
With this recent election, ASOIF strengthens its leadership with figures of broad experience in international sport. Andreas Zagklis, a sports lawyer and head of FIBA since 2018, will bring his expertise in governance and global growth of basketball. For his part, Nenad Lalovic remains an influential voice in the Olympic Movement, not only as President of UWW, but also as a member of the International Olympic Committee. Their appointments, together with those of Rolland and Restrepo, aim to shape a diverse Council committed to the development of summer Olympic federations.
