The Mediterranean Games Triathlon competition, held in the vicinity of the Gulf of Taranto, came to an end on its final day with the Mixed Relay event. The closing day was attended by World Triathlon President Antonio Arimany and Mediterranean Triathlon Federation President George Yerolimpos, as the Mediterranean Triathlon competition reached its conclusion.
Italy finished the Mixed Relay in commanding fashion, taking first place with a strong performance. The Italian team featured Sacchi, Cu, Cultore, Seregni and De Nigro. Spain finished second, followed by France in third and Türkiye in fourth.
The medal ceremony was attended by Arimany and Yerolimpos, who presented the medals and Taranto Games insignia to the athletes. The enthusiasm and excitement of local spectators and tourists added a distinctive Mediterranean atmosphere to the final ceremony.
Italy can be regarded as the strongest triathlon team at the Taranto competition, having secured gold in the women’s individual event and silver in the men’s individual event. The Italian team completed the Mixed Relay 1 minute and 22 seconds ahead of Spain, underlining its strong performance across the competition.

For Italy, Bianca Seregni won gold in the women’s individual triathlon, while Euan De Nigro claimed silver in the men’s individual event. Another Italian women’s triathlon athlete, Paola Sacchi, also reached the podium, taking bronze in the women’s individual competition.
Spain also produced a strong performance in Taranto. Eduardo Blanco Molla won bronze in the men’s individual event, while Spain claimed silver in the Mixed Relay with Alejandra Segui Soria, Eduardo Blanco Molla, Natalia Castro Santon and Jarno Pousada Troitino. Spain finished ahead of France in the team event.
France had been unable to win a medal in the individual competitions, but performed successfully as a team to secure bronze in the Mixed Relay. Their result placed France third in the final team competition.
Medal presentation ceremony
Greece also secured a valuable gold medal in the men’s individual event. Panagiotis Bitados, who was sent to the competition by the Hellenic Triathlon Federation, prevailed in a hard-fought final against De Nigro and Molla to win the men’s individual Triathlon title at the Mediterranean Games.
In the women’s individual event, Slovenia’s Tjaša Vrtačič also earned a silver medal, finishing behind Italy’s Seregni. With Arimany and Yerolimpos present for the medal ceremony, and with strong support from local spectators and tourists, the Triathlon competition came to an exciting conclusion, bringing a distinctly Mediterranean atmosphere to the final day in Taranto.
