This Tuesday, LA28 announced that the International Broadcast Center –IBC– for the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games will be located in Inglewood, California. This announcement coincided with the unveiling of Hollywood Park’s plans to develop Hollywood Park Studios, a new state-of-the-art production complex.

The IBC will be the hub for broadcast rights holders who have acquired exclusive rights to cover the 2028 Games. Inglewood, one of the host cities for the Games, will be home to this key facility that will enable global broadcast of the event.

A broadcast center with global reach

During the Games, the IBC will become one of the largest broadcast facilities in the world, operated by Olympic Broadcasting Services (OBS), the official broadcaster of the Games. Up to 8,000 media professionals are expected to work at the IBC during peak periods.

The center will provide customized office, studio and control room space, as well as other services needed to ensure television and digital coverage of the Olympic and Paralympic Games. This will enable millions of people around the world to enjoy the event from their homes.

Technological innovation in the transmission of the Games

The IBC will be fully operational several months before the start of the LA28 Games. Thanks to advanced technologies such as virtualized infrastructures, cloud solutions and IP technologies, the IBC will be 19% smaller than Paris 2024 and 38% smaller than Rio 2016. This change reflects a significant evolution in broadcast operations management.

Following the conclusion of the Games, the IBC will once again become part of Hollywood Park, integrating into its master development plan. The facility will be available for production and studio operations, contributing to Hollywood Park’s long-term focus on the media, entertainment and technology (MET) sectors.
