With just over 1,200 days to go until the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games, anticipation is building for what promises to be an unforgettable event. From iconic venues to the inclusion of innovative sports, this edition of the Olympic Games promises to combine the best of sport and culture in one of the world’s most iconic cities.

Under the theme of diversity and creativity, Los Angeles will not only host the world’s best athletes, but will transform the city into a vibrant sports venue for 17 days. The mix of history, modernity and spectacle will be the core of this edition, which seeks to be a benchmark for future competitions.

VENUES FOR LOS ANGELES 2028

The LA28 Olympic Games will use both historic venues and modern facilities to offer an unparalleled experience for athletes and spectators. The iconic Memorial Coliseum, which hosted competitions in 1932 and 1984, will once again take center stage as the venue for track and field events. In addition, venues such as the Long Beach Marine Stadium and the Exhibition Park swimming pool, used in 1932, will once again shine.

On the other hand, contemporary venues such as Inglewood Stadium for swimming or Carson Stadium for rugby sevens will elevate the experience for attendees. Even outside of Los Angeles, cities like Temecula and Oklahoma City will host equestrian, canoeing and softball competitions, highlighting the geographic expansion and integration of communities at these Games.

NEW SPORTS ON THE OLYMPIC PROGRAM

The LA28 edition will be highlighted by the inclusion of five new sports: baseball-softball, cricket (T20), lacrosse (sixes), flag football and squash. These disciplines, selected for their cultural relevance and global popularity, reflect the innovative spirit of the Games.

The return of cricket and lacrosse, absent for more than a century, marks an exciting revival. Meanwhile, flag football will make its debut, offering a more dynamic version of American football, while squash is integrated after being a demonstration sport in 2018. This variety will complement iconic sports such as athletics, swimming and gymnastics, ensuring a sporting spectacle for all tastes.

STAR SHINE IN LOS ANGELES

As the “City of Stars,” Los Angeles will host not only the world’s top athletes, but also a host of celebrities from film, music and television. Elite athletes such as Katie Ledecky, Noah Lyles and Armand Duplantis will compete under the gaze of fans and Hollywood personalities, creating a unique atmosphere.

The precedent was seen at Paris 2024, where the likes of Ariana Grande and Lady Gaga accompanied the Olympic action. During the closing ceremony, LA28 presented a preview with performances by H.E.R., Billie Eilish and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, giving a glimpse of the spectacle that awaits.

AN IMAGE THAT REFLECTS DIVERSITY

The LA28 emblem is a reflection of the dynamic spirit of Los Angeles. Unlike static logos, this edition features an interchangeable “A” designed by athletes and artists. This creativity highlights the city’s diversity and commitment to inclusion.

With contributions from the likes of Chloe Kim and Michael Johnson, the emblem represents a unique era for the Olympic Games. This visual innovation promises to be an iconic insignia for both the city and the Olympic movement.

UNIQUE SUNSETS FOR UNFORGETTABLE SETTINGS

Beyond sport and spectacle, Los Angeles offers a natural attraction that is hard to beat: its sunsets. From golden beaches to towering mountains, the city’s natural settings will perfectly complement the excitement of the Games.

Skies tinged with red and purple as the athletes compete… A postcard that promises to be one of the most memorable images of LA28, reinforcing the legacy of these Games as a truly unforgettable experience.
