The Organizing Committee of the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games made an important announcement. This is the new executive director of the event, a position that Reynold Hoover will occupy as CEO of the Olympic event after Paris 2024.

“Reynold is one of the few people in the nation who has the operational and logistical experience that the Olympic and Paralympic Games require,” justified Casey Wasserman, president of LA28. “He has been tasked with some of our nation’s most complex challenges and fortunate to have him on our team as we prepare to welcome the world in 2028,” he added regarding who will take the reins as head of the day-to-day work of the Organizing Committee.

A METEORIC CAREER

But who is Reynold Hoover and why was he made official in this position? He is a retired General of the United States Army with extensive experience from his beginnings as a soldier, promotion to deputy commander of the air force. He obtained the rank of lieutenant general. In addition, he served as chief of staff of the emergency management agency until 2003, director of the national security coordination office between that year and 2005; and special assistant to former President George W. Busch on national security from 2005 to 2007.

Expert in decision making, contacts at all levels, scrupulous in organizing teams, managing commands and an excellent ability to deal with all kinds of circumstances under any kind of pressure. These are some of the characteristics that make Reynold so special and unique in the United States. That is why LA28 is so proud to have hired a profile like his, who also has a memorable past of service to his nation.

Hoover retired from the Army in 2018, being awarded the country’s Defense Distinguished Service Medal, the highest recognition in the field of defense.

The now CEO of Los Angeles 2028 began his duties on June 10, 2024. “Helping to organize the Olympic and Paralympic Games on American soil will be the cornerstone of my career in public service,” commented Hoover. “Sport is a powerful convening force and is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to unite the Los Angeles community, the nation and the world through the Games. I look forward to working with the talented LA28 team and the many dedicated business and community partners to help deliver another successful Games in Los Angeles,” concluded the new leader of the post-Paris rings event.
