The Olympic Values Education Programme (OVEP), an initiative of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), has been honored with the prestigious Nurturing Values and Ethics Award at the Reimagine Education Awards ceremony held in London on December 11. This award celebrates innovative programs that promote integrity, empathy, and ethical decision-making—essential elements in shaping future generations. The recognition adds to OVEP’s ongoing success in crossing borders and making a positive global impact.
Selected from over 1,300 submissions from more than 90 countries, OVEP was named the best program in its category, recognized for its innovation, scalability, and global reach. With a culturally adaptive approach, the program has proven to be a powerful tool for inspiring respect, responsibility, and ethical leadership among youth worldwide.
A PROGRAM TRANSFORMING FUTURE GENERATIONS
Established in 2005, OVEP has implemented a unique methodology that combines innovative educational tools with sports activities to promote civic values. Through its focus on socio-emotional learning, teamwork, and resilience, the program not only fosters essential life skills but also encourages active participation in sports as a driver of social change. Present in more than 60 countries, OVEP continues to expand its influence and contribute to the holistic development of young people.
One of the program’s most notable milestones was achieved in 2024, when over 12 million children participated in its third year of implementation in India. Significantly, for the first time, more than 50,000 girls in various regions of the country had the opportunity to engage in sports activities. This achievement underscores OVEP’s transformative power in diverse contexts, especially in communities where access to sports has historically been limited for women.
