Qatar is preparing to host two major sporting events in the field of shooting sports. The country will welcome the ISSF World Shooting Championship 2026, along with the ISSF World Cup Final 2025. This will be the first time Qatar hosts the ISSF World Shooting Championship and the fourth time it organizes a stage of the ISSF World Cup. The competitions will include rifle, pistol, and shotgun events, although specific dates have yet to be confirmed.

Qatar’s selection as the host reflects its growing significance in the world of shooting sports. Doha has been a recurring venue for shooting events, having hosted the Shotgun Final in 2001 and the ISSF World Cup Finals for all three disciplines in 2023. Additionally, Qatar has demonstrated its ability to organize high-level events, suggesting that these upcoming competitions will be equally successful.

Sporting and Financial Development

The ISSF Executive Committee has approved the organization of these events in Qatar, including the ISSF World Cup Final 2025 and the ISSF World Shooting Championship 2026. Both events will feature rifle, pistol, and shotgun categories, promising broad participation from athletes worldwide. Qatar has proven its expertise in hosting shooting events, having previously organized multiple ISSF World Cup stages.

To support the organizers of the 2025 and 2026 events, the ISSF will provide a 50% reimbursement for expenses related to TV production and event promotion, up to a maximum of €20,000 per year per Organizing Committee. This initiative aims to facilitate the organization of high-quality events and attract a larger audience to shooting sports. Additionally, the ISSF has introduced a financial support package to help develop new athletes, including waiving ISSF ID registration fees for all newcomers in 2025 and 2026.
