Archer Aviation announced Thursday that it has been selected as the official air cab provider for the LA28 Olympic and Paralympic Games and Team USA. Through this exclusive partnership on U.S. soil, Archer will integrate its eVTOL Midnight electric aircraft into the Games, providing transportation for VIPs, fans and stakeholders, in addition to electrifying vertiports at key venues and supporting emergency and security services.

The collaboration also includes supporting Team USA during the Games, highlighting Archer’s commitment to innovation in sustainable air transportation.

Midnight: the air cab designed for LA28

Midnight is Archer’s piloted electric air cab, designed to carry up to four passengers with less noise and emissions than a traditional helicopter. The aircraft features redundant and fault-tolerant systems, including 12 engines and propellers, allowing Archer to seek Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certification with safety levels similar to those of commercial airlines.

Manufactured in the United States at Archer’s facilities in San Jose, California, and Covington, Georgia, Midnight will be a key piece of transportation during the Games, offering 10- to 20-minute flights between strategic landings in Los Angeles.

Network of land ports at key LA28 Games venues

Archer’s network of Los Angeles hubs will include strategic locations such as the stadium in Inglewood and the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, both of which are central to LA28. In addition, hubs are planned to be integrated at key visitor points such as Los Angeles International Airport, Hollywood, Orange County and Santa Monica.

Archer’s goal is to provide an efficient and sustainable transportation alternative for residents and visitors, facilitating movement between Games venues and other major destinations in the city.
